Rusul Jalal,  Salee’s Sister is Coming to
Greenville!

Many of you saw or met 10 year old Salee Allawe when she was here in Greenville last year and stole our hearts.  Salee was brought to our area through the efforts of Cole Miller and No More Victims, along with a team of local volunteer organizers.  Salee lost both legs in a November 2006 US air strike on her home in Hasswa, Iraq.  She received free surgery and prosthetics from Shriners Hospital of Greenville as well as free accommodations for her and her father at Ronald McDonald House. Many other Upstate businesses and individuals also donated their time and talent to help Salee and her father feel comfortable during their stay.

Soon, Salee’s little sister will also be coming to Greenville!  Rusul is 6 years old and was injured in the same air strike that took Salee’s legs and killed their older brother.  Rusul will undergo an amputation of her right leg and receive prosthesis at Shriners Hospital.

If you’d like to help No More Victims – Greenville and Asheville, we have many opportunities to volunteer!  Fundraising is a must; it’s extremely expensive to bring a child to the States from Iraq and to care for the family left at home while the breadwinner is away.  We need help with fundraising, interpreters, drivers, childcare, logistics, and many other tasks!  To volunteer, please contact Ann Cothran at (864) 933-8104 or Lisa Hall at (864) 787-5086.

No More Victims-Greenville welcomes donations in any amount to help with Rusul’s travel and care. To donate by mail, send a check made out to IHC/ No More Victims (with “Greenville-Rusul” in the subject line) to:  International Humanities Center, PO Box 923, Malibu, CA  90265.  To donate online by PayPal, visit www.nomorevictims.org and write “Greenville-Rusul” in the “Information and Comments” section of the PayPal form.  All donations are 100% tax deductible.

As men have often forsaken the plow and the anvil at the summons of war, let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel.  Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.  Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in peace.
